important for spotters. So we offer an overview of train and bus services connecting
the city of Munich and its airport.

travel by plane:
Munich airport is connected to most
European destinations by air. Also a growing number of intercontinental
flights exists. In the meantime also a growing number of low cost links to
the Bavarian capital has been established.
If there is no suitable flight connection available to Munich, please
consider also the low cost connections to Salzburg (especially for
connections from the UK). Have a look on the
timetable in our Salzburg section. Munich Airport is a 2 hours ride by
train away from Salzburg. From Salzburg Airport take Bus No 2 to Salzburg's
central station. Between Salzburg and Munich exist hourly train services.
travel by train:
Munich Airport is
connected to the suburban train system ("S-Bahn") of Munich. From the city
center you reach the airport directly with the lines S1 (only the last
carriage of the train goes to the airport) or line S8. Both lines terminate
at the airport ("Flughafen").
Munich is connected to the European long distance train system. Most trains
(long distance and regional trains) call at the central station
("Hauptbahnhof"). There you can change to the above mentioned suburban train
lines S1 and S8. Journey time from the central station is about 45mins. Many
trains from Austria and Italy also call at Munich East station
("Ostbahnhof"), where you can change directly to suburban train line S8.
Journey time is about 30 mins.

the visitors park
