LUTON
Just before Stansted
became really well known, Luton was the charter airport for the London
region, beside Gatwick. The big English charter carriers Thomsonfly and
Monarch still have their homebases there. With the rise of Stansted,
Luton lost some of its importance, but as easyJet entered the market and
made Luton its home. An impressive rise in terms of passenger numbers
followed. Beside the passenger and freight traffic, Luton is also a big
player in the General Aviation business. All this together makes Luton a
visit worth.
